Platinum Games’ Nier: Automata will be getting an anime adaptation this coming new year titled Nier: Automata Ver1.1a. The upcoming animated series has a new trailer showcasing its protagonists 2B and 9S. The trailer also reveals the release date for Nier: Automata Ver1.1a. Based on the trailer, the anime looks to be a faithful adaptation of the storyline of Nier: Automata. However, the game has 26 different endings and we won’t know until the season or series finale which one is going to be used in anime. We doubt that the animated series will use the 26th secret ending which was discovered three years and ten months after the game was released. The series may throw a curve ball and create its own unique ending which would be fitting for Nier: Automata. Nier: Automata Ver1.1a will be airing on several TV stations in Japan including Tokyo MX, GYT, GTV, and BS11. Internationally, the animated series has been licensed by Aniplex of America which stated that the show is “scheduled to broadcast in over 160 countries and regions.” Crunchyroll will be streaming the upcoming anime series. The video game Nier: Automata was released in 2017 and received critical acclaim. The game has a huge cult following among fans of the ARPG genre. The game has shipped over seven million copies since 2017. Nier: Automata takes place thousands of years after the first game’s timeline. In the video game, humans have left an Earth torn apart by a war between the “YoRHa” android forces and an invading machine army. The protagonists 2B and her companion 9S fight to defeat the Machine Network led by Adam and Eve. We’ll find out more about how the anime series will diverge from the source material when it streams on Crunchyroll on January 7.
