Failed attempt to make words rhyme aside, it is true that Warzone 2 will be available to play before the year ends. Or, at least, that’s what Activision wants everyone to believe. In its most recent earnings release, Activision re-confirmed that the follow-up to its hit free-to-play battle royale will launch soon after Modern Warfare 2. Activision described Warzone 2 as a “new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 experience” as it laid down its plans for the second half of the year. In addition to Warzone 2, fans can look forward to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 coming out on October 28. The other games on Activision’s docket are World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, and Overwatch 2. Unfortunately, we know very little about Warzone 2 outside of leaks and speculation. The only thing confirmed is that it will exist as a separate experience from Warzone and that it will be “tightly integrated” with Modern Warfare 2, and presumably, its sequel, whenever that comes out. Speaking of Activision, we’re still waiting for word on the beta dates for Modern Warfare 2. According to rumors, the open beta will start in September just right before the rumored multiplayer reveal for Modern Warfare 2. We also found out from Activision’s recent earnings report that it has “premium content” planned to come out in 2023 and beyond.
