The first TV series featuring Charlie Cox as the blind lawyer and crime fighter Daredevil was originally aired on Netflix and lasted three seasons before being canceled. Matt Murdock, who’s also known as the Daredevil, has appeared in several MCU projects such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Marvel Studios has reportedly opted for a reboot of the Daredevil series with Daredevil: Born Again instead of continuing the story of the original. According to reports, the new series will begin filming in February 2023. The production will primarily take place in New York City. Daredevil: Born Again is set in the neighborhood of Clinton or more popularly known as Hell’s Kitchen. Filming will reportedly last for 11 months or until the end of 2023. There will be eighteen episodes for the first season of the Daredevil reboot. The plot details for the new Daredevil series have not yet been revealed by Marvel. We do know that Charlie Cox will be reprising his role as Matt Murdock in the series. The blind lawyer last appeared in the season finale for She-Hulk: Attorney at Law where it was revealed that he is dating Jen Walters aka She-Hulk. Vincent D’Onofrio will also be making a return as the villain Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. The criminal warlord has been one of the main enemies of Daredevil in the comic and in the last season of the Netflix series. Fisk was also part of the Hawkeye mini-series starring Jeremy Renner as the master archer and former Avenger. There have been rumors that Franklin “Foggy” Nelson will be returning to the series. The best friend and law partner of Murdock was played by Elden Hudson in the Netflix series. If the rumors are true, Hudson will reprise his role in the Disney+ series. According to reports, Marvel will be retelling the story of Matt Murdock aka Daredevil in the new series. His origins story and rivalry with Kingpin have been thoroughly explored in the original series. In opting for a reboot, Marvel will be avoiding conflicts within the MCU timeline continuity. It will also allow the studio to put its own spin on other characters that have appeared in the series which includes Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Jones. There has been speculation that Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as Frank Castle aka The Punisher in Phase 5 of the MCU. The Punisher teamed up with Daredevil in the original series before getting his own spin-off. Fans are hoping that the pair would again team up in the MCU. With so much uncertainty surrounding Daredevil, one thing that’s guaranteed (at least for now) is that the series will premiere in the spring of 2024. Until then, fans can look forward to watching the final film of Phase 4 of the MCU, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, in theaters starting Friday, November 11.
