If you’ve spent the past couple of months wishing to finally hear the iconic Deckard Cain utter those words to you again, then say no more. Blizzard has finally confirmed when the first-ever Technical Alpha for Diablo 2 Resurrected will take place. Scroll down below to learn more about the upcoming Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha.

What Is Included in the Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha?

As promised earlier in February when they first revealed Diablo 2 Resurrected at BlizzConline 2021, Diablo 2 Resurrected will have its first Technical Alpha. During this period, players will be able to try out the game for free, albeit not everything in the final game will be available. In addition to this, players will only be able to play through the first two acts of the Diablo 2 remake. This means that players will be limited only to exploring the Rogue Encampment and Lut Gholein, as well as its surrounding areas. If it’s any consolation, the Technical Alpha will not have a level cap. This means that players will get a chance to test out just how powerful a maxed-out character in Diablo 2 Resurrected is. Although we reckon that an entire weekend probably isn’t enough to max out your character and Duriel, Act 2’s final boss, isn’t exactly the best boss to test out such a beefed up character against.

When Will the Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha Start?

According to Blizzard’s official announcement, the Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha will start on Friday, April 9, and last until Monday, April 12. As already mentioned, the first Technical Alpha will not include multiplayer. However, Blizzard did add in the announcement that they are planning to host another Technical Alpha later on with multiplayer in mind. It’s worth noting that, unlike the original, Blizzard intends to make Diablo 2 Resurrected available on multiple platforms. The upcoming Diablo 2 remake will also reportedly feature cross-progression across all available platforms.

Can Anyone Participate in the Diablo 2 Resurrected Technical Alpha?

Unfortunately, only a limited amount of players on the PC will get a chance to participate. Blizzard explains that they’ll choose players from those who previously preregistered on the Diablo 2 Resurrected website. Those lucky enough will get a chance to download and play in the Technical Alpha. While the exclusivity is definitely a bummer, it’s not all bad news. In their announcement, Blizzard did clarify that they’re encouraging players to capture, record, or broadcast their gameplay. As a matter of fact, Blizzard confirmed that a select number of community members will live stream their time in Diablo 2 Resurrected online. Additionally, Blizzard is planning to host at least one more Technical Alpha soon.
