As of the moment, Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available only on the PlayStation 4. Technically, you can play it on the PS5 via backwards compatibility, but it’s not built to take full advantage of the power of Sony’s next-gen console. PlayStation 5 owners will have to wait for the release of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade to enjoy the game at its finest. With that said, going back to the topic of the game releasing on other platforms, those who’ve been waiting for that to happen won’t have to wait too long for Square Enix to confirm if Final Fantasy 7 Remake will remain an exclusive to the PlayStation 4 and/or PlayStation 5.

Is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Coming to Other Platforms?

So if Square Enix has any plans on bringing this game to other platforms such as PC or Xbox they can start talking about it as soon as this month. pic.twitter.com/3hZ7x8qMdL — Benji-Sales (@BenjiSales) April 7, 2021 Benji-Sales took to Twitter to talk about the game’s upcoming one-year anniversary. He claims that this is significant. Not only does April 10 mark an entire year since the game’s release, but it is also when the exclusivity deal between Sony and Square Enix will come to an end. Because of this, Benji-Sales claims that if Square Enix were to announce Final Fantasy 7 Remake to other platforms, they’ll have free reigns to do so soon. Of course, this doesn’t mean that Square Enix will actually make Final Fantasy 7 Remake available on other platforms. However, it wouldn’t be the first time it would happen. In fact, the latest non-remake mainline installment in the Final Fantasy franchise, Final Fantasy 15, released on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in 2016. Then, there are rumors that the upcoming title, Final Fantasy 16, will eventually release on the PC. In addition to this, Square Enix recently made the entire Kingdom Hearts series on the PC as well. On the other hand, Square Enix doesn’t have that much of an incentive to make Final Fantasy 7 Remake available on other platforms. After all, the game reportedly sold more than 3.5 million copies within the first three days of its release. Plus, those sales numbers are likely to improve soon with the PS5 enhanced version set to release in June. Speaking of the PlayStation 5 version, fans won’t have to wait too long to get their hands on the enhanced version. Renamed as Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade (we know, it’s a handful), the PS5 version will boast numerous upgrades. This includes gameplay improvements and added features like a photo mode and being able to choose between improving performance or visuals. Perhaps more importantly, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade will come with a new paid DLC episode. The said new content will revolve around Yuffie Kisaragi. She previously appeared in other FF7-related media but mostly as an optional or bonus character. Just to clarify, the PS5 version isn’t necessarily free to all those who own a copy of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Only those who bought their copies for the PlayStation 5 will receive the free upgrade. Those whose copies came from the PlayStation Plus aren’t included. The Yuffie DLC is also an additional piece of content that you’ll have to pay for. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is expected to release on June 10.
