The great Leslie Nielsen, who passed away in 2010, will be replaced by Taken star Liam Neeson in the lead role. In a recent interview with Steven Weintraub of Collider, Liam gave an update on the project, stating: If the movie is a priority for everyone involved, the 70-year-old actor who will play Frank Drebin, Jr., responded: Back in 2009, a fourth installment in the Naked Gun series was planned, but with Leslie’s passing in 2010, the project was shelved. The reboot project, which was revealed in 2013, was stuck in development hell until 2021, when Seth MacFarlane was hired as the producer. Mark Hentemann and Alec Sulkin will be replaced as the scriptwriters by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, and Akiva Schaffer, who previously worked with Dan and Doug on the 2022 movie Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers, will serve as the director. The release date has not yet been revealed by Paramount Pictures.
