But, that’s not all. The Samsung Gaming Hub is more than just a cloud gaming access point. Owners can also access HDMI-connected video game consoles connected with passthrough controller inputs that let you use a single controller across multiple platforms. This lets you use Bluetooth headsets and controllers across multiple devices as well as apps and services that you can access through the Samsung Gaming Hub. The most notable addition to the Samsung Gaming Hub is the Xbox TV app. The Xbox TV app is currently exclusive to the Samsung Gaming Hub and will let those with active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriptions access their Xbox Cloud Gaming library. With access to more than 100 games, we’d say that the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is worth a try if only for a month if you have a compatible Samsung smart TV and monitor already. The collaboration between Samsung and Microsoft is noteworthy. Cloud gaming might not be perfect, but it is an avenue worth pursuing. Its biggest draw is the ability to let players enjoy their favorite games on low-powered devices. The current gameplay experience is not perfect, but it’s far better than where it was years ago. Gamers can now enjoy AAA titles on the most unlikely of devices. While we doubt that cloud gaming will phase out consoles and traditional gaming platforms anytime soon, the introduction of the Samsung Gaming Hub and other smart TVs is a step in the right direction. Since this is a “monkey see, monkey do” industry, we’re hoping that Microsoft’s venture in cloud gaming encourages Sony to take part as well. It already has the capabilities as Sony is a tech company that manufactures its own line of smart TVs and monitors. Most recently, Sony introduced the INZONE line of gaming accessories, which is currently composed of three gaming headsets and two gaming monitors. Sony could easily take notes from the competition and introduce something similar to the Samsung Gaming Hub. If nothing else, a Samsung Gaming App-like feature for Sony smart TVs and monitors with PS Plus Premium perks would incentivize PS Plus subscribers to spend more money on the most expensive tier.
