But, this hasn’t stopped eagle-eyed observers from chasing down potential hints, such as when Sony started pulling PS Now cards from physical stores back in January. While Sony’s plans for its video game subscription services remain a mystery, subscribers now believe that they have the biggest piece of evidence proving that “Project Spartacus” exists.
Over the past 24 hours, numerous PS Now subscribers have flocked to online discussion boards and forums such as Reddit and ResetEra to report what’s happening to their accounts. According to their statements, Sony has automatically been converting PS Now subscriptions to PS Plus without prior notice. What’s interesting is that the offerings didn’t change at all. Not to mention, a handful of PS Plus subscribers also appear to be getting access to PS Now as well. Many have taken this as Sony’s way of merging both services under one umbrella, hinting at an official rollout of Project Spartacus soon. The original Bloomberg report on Project Spartacus explained that the upcoming Game Pass Competitor is more than just a combination of PS Now and PS Plus. The unannounced multi-tiered subscription service would reportedly come with a third-tier that features game streaming from an extensive library, online multiplayer, and a handful of free titles along with access to legacy games from the PS1, PS2, and PS3. Of course, because Sony hasn’t addressed these rumors, take everything that you just read with a grain of salt. But, we wouldn’t be surprised if Sony announces something big coming this March either. The console manufacturer is rumored to be preparing for a big State of Play event in a few weeks. Not to mention, Sony kicked off March with a solid lineup of free PS Plus games and PS Now’s first day one launch title. The good news here is that we’re already in March. If nothing else, fans only have to wait for a few weeks to find out if all these rumors will lead up to something big or not.
