Netflix’s hit fantasy series highlighted Netflix’s TUDUM 2022 event. The streaming giant dropped the first poster for The Witcher Season 3 at the said showcase. But, if you expect to see Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia sport a new look, we’ve got bad news for you. Still, it does confirm that The Witcher Season 3 will come out next summer. The summer release window for The Witcher Season 3 is a huge departure for the budding franchise. The first and second seasons of The Witcher came out in December 2020 and 2022, respectively. It isn’t unusual for shows to switch release months and dates in between seasons, but it’s still noteworthy when these break a pattern. Then again, Netflix is starting to become more open to changes lately.

If anything, we should be happy that Netflix didn’t settle another December release date. It’d have been a much longer wait for audiences otherwise. Having said that, the latest The Witcher news comes just weeks after season 3 finished its filming. From what we know so far, season 3 will borrow heavily from the second novel in the Witcher Saga, Time of Contempt. It will reportedly follow the story of Cavill’s Geralt as he takes Freya Allen’s Princess Ciri under his tutelage as they ask Anya Chalotra’s Yennefer for help with Ciri’s sorcerer training. Ultimately, we’re just glad to find out that The Witcher Season 3 finally has a release date. After the cameras started rolling in April, a COVID-19 scare stopped production in July as the series lead, Henry Cavill, spent time recovering and repairing his PC. Speaking of The Witcher, the next game in the video game franchise by CD Projekt Red was confirmed earlier this year.
