However, Holland isn’t just a big deal in the MCU. He’s also the anchor of what could be Sony’s next big movie franchise as he’s set to take on the role of Nathan Drake in the video game adaptation of Uncharted, which is set to premiere next year. With that said, it appears that Holland is already eyeing another big franchise, as he’s reportedly expressed interest in wanting to play James Bond.
Could Tom Holland be the next James Bond?
After Daniel Craig wrapped up his time with the critically beloved 2021 spy film, No Time to Die, fans have been wondering who’s going to take on the mantle. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has even thrown his hat into the ring, saying that he’d love to play the iconic spy. But, as it turns out, The Rock isn’t the only superhero that wants to be James Bond. In a new GQ article, Jacob Batalon, who plays the role of Peter Parker’s best friend, Ned Leeds, says that Holland “talks about being James Bond a lot.” He emphasized this even further by saying that Holland does this “A lot a lot.” If Holland lands the role in the next few years, it would make him the youngest ever to play Bond in a film. At the moment, the youngest James Bond actor is George Lazenby. The Australian actor was only 29 when he played Bond in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Of course, with Joe Russo saying that Holland is now the “heart and soul of the MCU” and the fact that he might end up filming more than one Uncharted movie, we don’t think that Holland will have the time to play James Bond soon, but who knows? Holland certainly has his way with fans and if he’s really serious about wanting the role, who’s to say that the next iteration of James Bond wouldn’t be younger and inexperienced, which would fit his relatively young age? At this point, it’s still far too early to tell if James Bond has the chops to be 007. However, he’s set to appear in Uncharted next year, so we’ll know for sure just how well he does in an action film that’s not set in a universe where can literally just swing his way around an entire city.
