According to Opening Night Live host, Geoff Keighley, Unknown Worlds’ “new sci-fi IP” will join the Gamescom 2022 live showcase. In addition to the game itself, the game’s director, Charlie Cleveland, who was also behind both Subnautica games, will be on stage to introduce the unannounced project and show “lots of gameplay.” From this, we can tell two things: Subnautica 3 is still ways away and Unknown Worlds’ new IP isn’t. Since Keighley confirmed that Unknown Worlds is ready to show gameplay footage in a few weeks, the game’s launch could happen in the next year. PCGamer points out that Krafton intends to launch the title as an early access game later this year, which means that a full release isn’t too far off. If nothing else, the release of this turn-based sci-fi strategy game could fill in for the void left by the delay of Starfield and Marvel’s Midnight Suns.

This is a brand new sci-fi IP, and we’ll show you lots of gameplay too! The August extravaganza features several developers showcasing their current and upcoming games with Geoff Keighley hosting the opening night. The host confirmed that Gamescom 2022 will kick off with a two-hour live show featuring 30+ games, which we assume will include the new Unknown Worlds project. Make sure that you tune into the start of Gamescom 2022 on August 23 at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT / 7:00 PM BST.
